Texas Senate Race Heats Up as Early Voting Nears Close in Midterms

Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico focused their closing arguments on Saturday in a competitive U.S. Senate race in Texas. Talarico criticized Paxton as a corrupt example of the political system, while Paxton argued that his Democratic opponent is too liberal for the state.

The intense Texas contest has emerged as a barometer for voter sentiment regarding leadership and party loyalists. Early balloting totals nationwide were approaching 50 million as early voting neared its conclusion in several states.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump stepped away from in-person campaign rallies to participate in virtual events. He was slated to call into multiple tele-rallies after spending time at his golf club in Florida.

Congressional leaders also campaigned across key battleground areas. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries criticized Republican policies in Virginia, while House Speaker Mike Johnson warned voters against Democratic ideologies during an appearance in Michigan.
