NRI Bytes (“we”, “us”) is operated by NexGen Tech Solutions. This policy explains what we collect when you use our website and mobile apps, why, and the choices you have. You can read the news without creating an account.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address if you sign in (we email you a one-time code; there is no password).
• Your preferences — reading language, interests, optional city and state, and the stories you save. These are only stored if you sign in and choose to set them.
• Notifications — if you turn on notifications, your browser or device gives us a push address and the topics you chose. You can turn this off at any time.
• Usage information — which pages and stories are opened, searches, language changes, and ad impressions and clicks. This is used to improve the service and to report ad performance to advertisers.
• Questions you ask the AI — text you type into “Ask AI” is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce an answer. Please don't include sensitive personal information in your questions.
• Your area — to show Indian restaurants, shops, temples and events within 50 miles of you, we estimate your city from your internet connection (city-level only; we do not store your IP address for this). You can replace it with a ZIP code or your device's location, which you choose to share. Your area is kept on your device and sent to us only as rounded coordinates when we look up nearby places; it is not saved to your profile.
• Technical data — IP address and device/browser type in server logs, used for security and abuse prevention.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or payment details, and we do not sell your personal information.

How we use it

• To show you news in your language and sections, and to sync saved stories across your devices.
• To send the notifications you asked for.
• To keep the service secure, fix problems, and understand which features are used.
• To show advertising. Ads are labelled “Sponsored”, are chosen without using your personal profile, and advertisers only receive aggregate impression and click counts.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the platform: cloud hosting and database (Render), AI processing (Anthropic), and email delivery for sign-in codes. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your theme, language, and sign-in session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Articles on this platform are written by our AI newsroom from publicly available reporting by other news organisations, which are credited on each story. See our Terms for details.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or at /delete-account. This permanently removes your email, preferences and saved stories.
• Turn notifications off in the app/browser, or on the Notifications page.
• Turn off personalization in your profile settings.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@nribytes.com.

Retention

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Usage events are kept in anonymised form for service improvement. Server logs are kept for a short period for security.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
