Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta Dies After Accidental Fall at Mumbai Home

Director and producer Sanjay Gupta passed away following a fall at his home in Mumbai on Friday night. The 59-year-old filmmaker was discovered by his wife and two children on Saturday morning at their residence in Versova.

According to local police, security footage from inside the home captured Gupta losing his balance while moving from the drawing room to the kitchen at approximately 2 a.m. He reportedly struck his head against a wall corner, resulting in severe injuries and bleeding.

Because family members were asleep in separate bedrooms at the time, the incident went unnoticed until the following morning. Emergency responders took Gupta to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigators have filed an accidental death report and noted that the family does not suspect any foul play. A forensic team visited the site, and the body was moved to a government facility for a formal post-mortem examination.

Gupta was a well-known figure in the film industry, recognized for directing movies such as Kaante and Zinda. He also produced Shootout at Lokhandwala and directed the 2017 box office success Kaabil.
