Project Angel Food marked a major milestone on October 29, 2026, by initiating construction on the final building of its new Hollywood campus. Backed by The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, the organization provides medically tailored meals to individuals facing serious illnesses.
The upcoming Community Outreach Center will join the Kitchen and Operations Center that opened earlier in February. Together, the two buildings form a unified campus designed to bring meal preparation, education, research, and direct client support to a single location.
The initial phase more than doubled the organization's culinary space and upgraded its cooking infrastructure. According to officials, these enhancements are projected to lift annual production capacity from approximately 1.5 million meals to more than 4.5 million medically tailored meals.
Beyond food distribution, the new outreach facility will host client services, volunteer spaces, a rooftop herb garden, and a demonstration kitchen named Founders Hall. It will also feature a Research and Policy Institute dedicated to studying the outcomes of medically tailored meals and expanding coverage through programs like Medicare and Medi-Cal.
The campus development is part of a multi-year campaign to broaden the charity's reach across Los Angeles County. Project Angel Food leadership noted that about $3 million remains to be raised to finish the project, with the full campus expected to be completed in 2028.
Why It Matters
This expansion significantly scales up the delivery of medically tailored meals for individuals battling serious illnesses in Los Angeles County, while advancing the broader integration of nutrition into healthcare through dedicated research and policy initiatives.
