Committees Push for Official Sardar Patel Birth Anniversary Celebrations in Karnataka

Representatives from the Steel Man Sardar Patel Jayantotsava Committee and the Kalyana Karnataka Horata Samiti have requested that the state government officially observe October 31 as a commemorative day across seven districts. The groups gathered in Kalaburagi to pay tribute to India's first Deputy Prime Minister, citing his instrumental role in uniting the country.

Proponents of the plan stated that official celebrations would educate younger generations on the history of the region and Patel's efforts during the 1948 integration of Hyderabad State. They have called upon local ministers and legislators to advocate for this mandate at the state level.

Additionally, the committees are seeking the modernization and renovation of the Sardar Patel Circle in Kalaburagi. They noted that the site has remained largely unchanged for nearly three decades and requires updates to better honor the statue.

Legislator Shashil Namoshi expressed support for the initiative, noting the importance of promoting Patel's ideals regarding national unity and agricultural welfare. He committed to coordinating with political leaders across party lines to press the government for these changes.
