Nifty Caps Weekly Gains as Market Experts Highlight Sun Pharma, IndiGo, and Infosys
TL;DR
- Indian benchmark indices closed the week higher, led by recovery in IT, healthcare, and select financial shares.
- Foreign Institutional Investors turned net buyers, purchasing ₹6,304.67 crore in cash market equity.
- Market analysts caution that Nifty faces overhead resistance near its 50-day exponential moving average.
- Sun Pharma, IndiGo, and Infosys have been recommended as key technical picks for upcoming trading sessions.
Indian stock markets closed the week on a positive note as the Nifty 50 advanced 2% to finish at 23,053.10, while the Sensex rose 1.8% to 74,459.53. The recovery was driven primarily by gains in the IT, healthcare, and financial sectors, even as the Bank Nifty recorded a modest 0.6% gain.
Institutional activity showed signs of improvement, with Foreign Institutional Investors recording net purchases of ₹6,304.67 crore in the cash market over the week. Domestic Institutional Investors also remained net buyers, adding ₹3,109.79 crore. Market observers noted that while foreign buying offers a positive signal, a single week of inflows may not immediately offset broader selling trends observed in October.
According to technical analysis from Choice Broking, Nifty's immediate upside remains limited until it moves past its 50-day moving average near 23,160. Analysts identified dynamic support levels between 22,800 and 22,900, with resistance expected near 23,150 to 23,200. Geopolitical risks and high crude oil prices continue to present underlying uncertainties for domestic cost structures and inflation.
In individual stock setups, Choice Broking pointed to Sun Pharma, IndiGo, and Infosys for short-term trading interest. Sun Pharma is seeing steady dynamic support on its weekly charts, IndiGo has closed above key moving averages on increased volume, and Infosys is reflecting early signs of a bullish trend reversal.
Why It Matters
The performance of the Indian equity market and the return of foreign institutional inflows provide insights for retail and cross-border investors keeping track of economic trends and capital flows in India.
