Bay of Bengal Weather System to Bring Rain to Telangana
TL;DR
- A depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm.
- The system will weaken before reaching Telangana, bringing light to moderate rain.
- Nine districts in Telangana are forecasted to see isolated heavy rainfall on November 2.
- The weather system is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 3.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal is moving west-northwest. While it is expected to strengthen into a cyclonic storm, officials anticipate it will weaken significantly by the time it reaches Telangana.
State residents should expect light to moderate rainfall between November 2 and November 4. Hyderabad is included in the forecast for these showers.
Heavy rainfall is specifically expected in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal on November 2. Some of these districts will continue to see isolated heavy rain on November 3.
Meteorologists noted that as the system moves inland, the associated cloud cover is expected to shear off, limiting the potential impact on the state.
Why It Matters
Weather patterns in the Bay of Bengal frequently impact agricultural and urban planning in India, highlighting the ongoing challenges of managing water resources and groundwater levels amidst fluctuating climate conditions.
