Evertrue Capital will primarily target early-stage artificial intelligence and financial technology startups based in the U.K. and Europe. The fund expects to invest in a minimum of 20 businesses over the next three years, offering an average check size around £350,000.
The fund secured backing from five institutional investors, including Basecamp and the British Business Bank. While Evertrue initially aimed to collect approximately $13 million, strong interest pushed the capital total higher, though Bajela opted to turn down additional funding to keep the portfolio focused.
fundraising process presented challenges amid a tough market for emerging fund managers. Most of Evertrue's limited partners are based in the U.K., with additional investors located in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Already, more than half of the seven startups currently backed by the firm have operations in the U.S.
Why It Matters
The launch highlights the growing U.K. startup and artificial intelligence ecosystem, where emerging fund managers are securing capital despite a challenging global fundraising market. It also reflects a strong international link, as many U.K. founders targeted by European funds aim to expand their operations into the U.S.
