Social media users began speculating about potential trouble between the couple after noticing that the actor reshared several posts themed around heartbreak, betrayal, and emotional pain. One of her shared posts mentioned wanting the universe to acknowledge a cruel event, while another expressed faith in prayers and turning tables.

The couple previously announced their engagement on August 5, featuring photos from an intimate sunset proposal and a diamond ring. Prior to the engagement, they kept their relationship mostly private, though Shankar has since shared multiple vacation and party photos with Dhanak.

Shankar is known for her work in television shows, web series, and the Marathi film Ved, alongside her 2023 participation in Bigg Boss OTT 2. Dhanak is reported to be a US-based entrepreneur who generally stays away from public attention.
