Partnerships between ICE and local police surge, report finds

TL;DR

• A new report from immigration reform advocacy group FWD.us finds that partnerships between ICE and state/local police have doubled over the last eight months
• The growth means more state and local officers are now working alongside federal immigration agents
• The report highlights a rapid expansion of local-federal immigration enforcement cooperation nationwide

Why It Matters

The expansion of ICE's partnerships with local police changes how immigration enforcement touches everyday interactions with local law enforcement across the country, which matters to immigrant communities broadly, including Indian-American immigrants who may encounter expanded enforcement cooperation in their local jurisdictions.
