Students residing at the University of Toronto's Mississauga campus received instructions to shelter in place following reports of police activity near a student housing facility. Emergency responders arrived at the scene near the McLuhan Court residence, which provides housing for hundreds of first-year students.

Peel Regional Police reported a large presence in the area and described the event as a dangerous weapons call. Authorities evacuated the immediate vicinity late Monday and advised the public to steer clear of the location, while paramedics were stationed nearby without treating any patients.

The university subsequently stated that the situation was confined to a single residential unit, noting no physical injuries had been reported. An updated alert indicated that the shelter-in-place directive was partially lifted, though the lockdown remained active specifically for the McLuhan Court residence.
